Health & Safety Policy

1. Policy Statement
LT&T Training is committed to ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of all employees, instructors, trainees, and visitors. We recognise that health and safety is an integral part of our business operations and training delivery.
We will comply with all relevant health and safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, and all associated regulations.
2. Our Commitment
LT&T Training will:
- Provide and maintain a safe working and training environment
- Ensure all training activities are conducted safely and in accordance with HSE guidelines
- Provide adequate information, instruction, training, and supervision to all staff and trainees
- Assess and manage risks associated with all training activities
- Maintain all equipment and vehicles used in training in a safe and serviceable condition
- Ensure appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is available and used where required
- Investigate all accidents and near-misses and take corrective action
- Consult with employees on health and safety matters
3. Responsibilities
Management is responsible for:
- Implementing and maintaining this policy
- Ensuring risk assessments are carried out and reviewed regularly
- Providing adequate resources for health and safety
- Ensuring all staff receive appropriate health and safety training
Instructors are responsible for:
- Conducting training in a safe manner at all times
- Carrying out pre-use checks on all equipment before training commences
- Reporting any hazards, accidents, or near-misses immediately
- Ensuring trainees understand and follow safety procedures
Trainees are responsible for:
- Following all safety instructions given by instructors
- Wearing appropriate PPE as directed
- Reporting any concerns or hazards to their instructor
- Not operating equipment unless authorised and supervised to do so
4. Risk Assessment
We carry out risk assessments for all training activities, including on-site training at client premises. Risk assessments are reviewed regularly and whenever there is a significant change in activity, equipment, or environment.
When delivering training at client sites, we will liaise with the client to understand site-specific risks and ensure our training activities do not create additional hazards.
5. Equipment Safety
All forklifts and materials handling equipment used in training will be subject to regular inspection and maintenance. Pre-use checks will be completed before every training session. Any defective equipment will be taken out of service immediately until repaired.
6. Accident & Incident Reporting
All accidents, incidents, and near-misses must be reported and recorded. Where required under RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013), incidents will be reported to the HSE.
All incidents will be investigated to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
7. Emergency Procedures
Emergency procedures, including first aid and evacuation plans, are in place at our training centre. When delivering training at client sites, we will familiarise ourselves with the client's emergency procedures before training commences.
At least one qualified first aider will be present during all training sessions.
8. Review
This policy will be reviewed annually, or following any significant incident, change in legislation, or change in our business activities. All staff will be informed of any updates.
